Located 150 kilometres from Québec City, far from the frenzy, noise and crowds of fashionable ski centres, stands Mont Grand Fonds, majestic in all its peaceful glory. In addition to panoramic views of picturesque wilderness, this ski resort offers a friendly family atmosphere and a top-notch trail system that boasts plenty of snow and impeccably groomed trails. Downhill skiing With 14 runs built for maximum sunshine exposure, a vertical drop of 335 metres that mingles gentle and steep slopes clear of any false flats, as well as breathtaking views of vast reaches of pristine beauty, Mont Grand-Fonds can truly be considered Québec's brightest jewel for die-hard downhill skiers. The area enjoys an abundance of snow (the ski resort had over 600 cm of snowfall last year, even if in Quebec province knew a winter of rain) and attracts a host of enthusiasts who not only expect terrific ski conditions but also seek to avoid the commercialism so prevalent at many sports centres. Much to the delight of ski-club members who train on Mont Grand Fonds varied terrain, the resort features two downhill-certified runs as well as three glades, including one for experts. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing At Mont Grand Fonds, cross-country trail systems meander through exquisite natural settings and provide skiers with every opportunity to immerse themselves in the quiet of solitude. Lovers of the outdoors often cant resist lingering about and keeping a watchful eye for any of the many bird species that crisscross the mountain. As for sports aficionados, they can look forward to invigorating trails that roam along several kilometres, all of which are machine-groomed every day. A heated waxing facility is also available as are four rustic cabins where skiers can warm up and sip coffee or hot chocolate at no extra charge. At Mont Grand-Fonds you can also enjoy our 26 km of snowshoe trails. 10 km at the base will guide you at two rustic cabins wich are the one located on the crosscountryskiing trail system. 16 km at the top will guide you to a place where you will look at an extraordinary view of the St-Laurence River and the beautiful Charlevoix's unique mountains! Snowboarding and tubing Mont Grand Fonds is also great fun for snowboarders. Riders are welcome on thirteen of the downhill runs, one of which features a snowpark with a number of obstacles, including a big air jump. While boarders indulge in their favourite frenzy, children can go tubing and careen to their hearts content. Bathed in the warm sunlight, the tube run is attractively laid out and equipped with its own T-bar. The Regional Park of Mont-Grand-Fonds provides all the amenities that visitors can expect at a major ski centre, but with none of the aggravations.
